Since 1950 United Nations Building has been the headquarters of the United Nations governing body and is considered international land, possessing its own fire force, security and postage stamps. Guided tours of the building cover the purpose and organizational structure of the United Nations, and visitors can view a number of exhibits on key areas of influence including peacekeeping and disarmament. The famous site is located on the shore of Hudson Bay, north of the NYU Medical Center.
