Celebrating the city's amazing history, the Museum of the City of New York explores the diverse lives and heritage of its citizens. Permanent exhibits at the museum include a series of rooms decorated in period styles dating back to the 1600s, exhibits on the trade history of the city and a collection of toys used by children in various eras. Its collection of items totals over 1.5 million pieces, including an enormous collection costumes and outfits worn in the city since the 17th century, as well as prints, photographs and artifacts from the lengthy history of Broadway. The museum is located on the east side of Central Park, near Mt. Sinai Medical Center.
Open Tue. - Sun. 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Closed Mon.
Adults $9; Seniors and Students $5; Children 12 and under are free.
